Meet South Africa’s Top Real Estate Entrepreneur Rali Mampeule! He is the founder and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Phadima Group Holdings, an investment holding company in the real estate industry.
The company holds controlling and strategic stakes in businesses offering services such as Asset and facilities management, Private property fund and Property development. The company aims to become the market leading investment holding and specialist company within the built environment through identifying and becoming involved in strong entrepreneurial activities.
In 2000, he started out as a street hawker, selling boerewors rolls in Midrand while studying for his Bachelor of Commerce (Bcom) degree at the University of South Africa (UNISA). In 2001 Mampeule worked for Chas Everitt Sandton as an Estate Agent and in 2004 he launched his own real estate franchise called Chas Everitt Midrand. Through his extensive knowledge and experience in the real estate industry, Mampeule managed to get Chas Everitt Midrand to generate a turnover of R100 million in its first year and hasn’t looked back ever since.
During this time Mampeule was also working on diversifying Phadima into the business of real estate media and the bond origination industry. This resulted in the establishment of Lusa Phadima Media and Anchor Bond in 2005.
Mampeule isn’t only passionate about business but he is also passionate about empowering young black people who are from previously disadvantaged communities. This is why he launched the Rali Mampeule Learnership Programme (RML), which offers scholarships to promising individuals who want to study a professional real estate course. “To me success means changing people’s lives and making their dreams come true.” said Mampeule in an interview with Metro FM.
Rali Mampeule was awarded the South African Nedbank Property Professional of the year award for 2006/2007 and he was awarded the emerging Entrepreneur of the year from the African Heritage Society (AHS). In 2014 he was the only real estate entrepreneur to be featured in Destiny Man (The Power of 40); he was also the first South African to be chosen as a member of the Forbes Real Estate Council.
Mampeule has diversified into property development with a bouquet of commercial, retail and residential properties and recently established a South African Housing and Infrastructure Fund (SAHIF) to speed up the delivery of affordable housing in South Africa.
