Akani Properties is a South African commercial property services company which was founded in 2005 by Zamani Letjane, who serves as its Managing Director (MD), with the purpose of spearheading infrastructure development within Southern Africa and the globe as a whole.
Akani Properties offers services such as asset management and consulting, commercial property broking, property and project management, retail leasing as well as project development and management. It was founded as an empowerment initiative to take advantage of the changes brought by South Africa’s democracy and the globalisation of its economy.
It has managed to win a bid to develop a R350 Million hotel and conference facility in Middleburg, a town in the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality in Mpumalanga. The hotel is set to have 150 rooms with the conference centre having 1000 seats. This project has been next in line for the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality since the development of the R950 million OR Tambo Radisson hotel and conference precinct in Kempton Park by Akani Properties.
In an interview with Property Wheel, Managing Director Zamani Letjane said, “Middleburg, which has been growing steadily over the past few years – due to the mining industry and related industries – matches our investment strategy and criteria. We believe this investment will offer our investors sustainable returns in the long term while also making lasting socio-economic contributions in Middleburg.”
The construction of the project is expected to start in March 2021 according to Property Wheel and it is expected to create employment for the residents of the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality.
