Its menu is developed with a clear understanding of African flavours and preferences. The company is a brand that creates and cherishes food memories as it not only serves amazing, tantalising quality food, but it also provides an eating experience. With the first Nkukhu Box store launched in Mamelodi, one of many famous townships in South Africa, its plans on bringing the brand to every other township.
Nkukhu Box is founded to serve a purpose in the South African township food industry. As a young entrepreneur from the township with an aim of offering high quality grilled chicken products that are on par with international standards and other big brands, Itumeleng Mpatlanyana, the founder, is a firm believer in self initiated entrepreneurship. He has a passion for good food and has been in the food business for more than 10 years.
Nkukhu Box plans to initiate projects that are external to normal business activities of the company and are not directly for purpose of increasing company profit. These projects will have a strong developmental approach and will use company resources to benefit and uplift communities where it operates.
For their social corporate investment, the company focuses on Social Entrepreneurship Development, Agriculture and Food Security, Arts and Culture, Early Childhood Development, Education, Environment, Infrastructure, Job Creation, Sports Development and Skills Development.
The company uses open land to place its container stores, either private or municipal; in most instances these areas are neglected and not maintained. Some have become illegal dumping sites. Once Nkukhu Box has identified a site and relevant permission to use the land has been obtained, the company will at its own cost improve and maintain the landscape. This way it contributes to the creation of environment friendly communities. The company also engages with the Department of Provincial Environment Affairs to realize this goal. It aims to turn illegal dumping sites into parks, business hubs and soccer fields for kids to play on.
