This House Beside The Seaside In Llandudno Is Selling For R28 750 000!

This House Beside The Seaside In Llandudno Is Selling For R28 750 000! Given that most rooms are triple aspect, floor to ceiling glass, it is astounding how, once inside, one feels totally hidden away from anything other than the ever-changing ocean, visible from a gazillion vantage points and as such the simple moniker Sea Glass succinctly sums up this glorious home.

Llandudno itself is similarly sequestered from the world, with no commercial anything, not even a streetlight. Life here is all about the beach, and Llandudno’s beautiful, sheltered bay with its immense boulders and immaculate sands is easily accessed via a meandering 7-minute trail.

As you may expect from a home designed principally from glass there is little screening on the inside too. The second level is where all the living happens and is spaciously sprawling and totally open plan. Naturally, this extends onto a large wooden deck with epic views, which, with its barbeque and sunken fire pit, encourages entertaining to take place outdoors for most of the year.

The top level of Sea Glass houses three bedrooms, all with marvellous sea views naturally, and opening onto large, cantilevered wooden decks. The lower level houses a further bedroom within a self-contained and roomy, sea view flatlet that has its own entrance and double up as a movie theatre. Again, one marvels at the use of space and light here. There is an abundance of both, and every iota has been cleverly utilised for living well.

To the rear of this gorgeous home lies a sheltered courtyard where the pool nestles against more of those comfortingly rounded boulders. A private gate gives access to the mountain reserve and leads to some incredible hikes. Life in Llandudno is peachy; it’s a suburb that feels more year-round holiday than suburban and lies less than a half hour’s drive along magnificent coastline from Cape Town. For natural light freaks Sea Glass is the silver bullet. Sympathetically melded to its mountain and ocean backdrop it’s a deeply comfortable, lushly elegant home.
