How Mobile Application Start-Up ‘My Pregnancy Journey’ Became The First Comprehensive Pregnancy App From The African Continent. My Pregnancy Journey is a startup that has created the first comprehensive pregnancy app from the African continent where each user can personalised the app for themselves and use any of the 30 features to track her own pregnancy from week to week. The app updates new content, videos and information every week.

My Pregnancy Journey’s aim is to guide and empower all women with everything they need to know about pregnancy, health and parenting. It wants to inspire moms in a positive way and give them the tools they need to raise more sustainable societies. The company believes that every mom and baby matters, and that its important that all expectant mothers and families receive the correct information that could possibly make their unique pregnancy journey, a beautiful one.

The founder of the startup Jacqueline Roger’s said on the company’s website, “I have always been looking out for other opportunities and gaps in the market until one day I came across shocking statistics when it comes to pregnancies in Africa, I sold my first business and took action. I did a year of research and it took me and my team 2 years of putting our project ‘My Pregnancy Journey’ together. We have self-funded the project up to date and had to overcome many obstacles to get it to where it is today, but we are determined to create a sustainable business with an equal success in making a huge societal impact.”

Some of the startup’s achievements include being nominated by the World Health Organisation as one of Africa’s top 30 innovators, being nominated in the MTN App Award for the Women in STEM category, being the Most Inspiring Digital Innovation by Partos and The Spindle in Amsterdam and being nominated for the MTN App Award for the Huawei category and being in the Impact Award – African challenge of 1000 and AfricaArena.

My Pregnancy Journey has also managed to partner with The Birthing Kit Foundation in Australia which is a humanitarian organisation that provides birthing kits and education in clean birthing practices to women birthing at home in remote regions of the developing world.
