Drip Footwear Founder Lekau Sehoana Announces The Company’s Partnership With Imperial Lions. South African entrepreneur and founder of Drip Footwear Lekau Sehoana took to Twitter to announce the company’s partnership with Lions Cricket SA. This partnership has created an exclusive shoe design that was also revealed in the post.
The post read, “This is what I meant when I said we’re tapping into Sports. @LionsCricketSA thanks very much. Let’s do this.” Sehoana has shown that he is expanding his business from just a shoe brand to a conglomerate that houses various brands. By doing this he has managed to scale the business to be at a stage where it can form partnerships with a lot of brands as this will further help in its growth as well.
The company indicated its interest in sports when Sehoana purchased his own soccer club called Black Eagles and when the company became the official sponsor of Sekhukhune United Football Club. Now the company is venturing into Cricket by partnering with one of South Africa’s cricket teams, Imperial Lions. Imperial Lions is a Top 8 cricket team wholly owned by the Lions Cricket Union.
Lions Cricket administers all amateur cricket that is played in Soweto, Kagiso, Johannesburg North, Alexandra, Wits and surrounding areas, Vaal, South East Area, Jeppe, Lenasia and Johannesburg Central. It invests in marginalised and previously disadvantaged communities, townships and rural areas. This has seen an investment in 6 township-based community-based HUBS and 1 Rapid Performance Centre (RPC) with competitive infrastructure facilities, coaching and mentoring sessions.
This partnership is set to be fruitful and helpful to the community as both parties have aligning values of uplifting people in townships and making sure that opportunities are created so that they can also get a chance to go after their dreams.
