How MobiWash SA Aims To Become One Of The Biggest Companies To Come Out Of Alexandra. MobiWashSA was started in 2013 by Robert Mtshali who owned a cleaning company that time. The cleaning company was solving problems in niche markets which led Robert a serial entrepreneur from Alexandra township to find a gap in the market and started a mobile car wash that would allow customers to book or schedule a car wash through an app.
Robert is someone that has suffered unimaginable tragedy at a very young age, Robert consistently overcame odds and obstacles to pursue his dream of being an entrepreneur. It hasn’t been an easy route, but it has produced a man that is deeply passionate about creating value, impacting lives and importantly, teaching others to follow in his footsteps. MobiWashSA didn’t do well in its first year because a lot of people weren’t comfortable with allowing strangers into their homes.
Through Robert’s resilience and drive to wanting to build one of the biggest companies to ever come out of Alexandra, MobiWashSA changed the way it was reaching its customers and methods of marketing and started embracing social media, utilizing technology even more to build the brand that it has today. MobiWashSA currently has 7 full-time employees with the average age of 20, part-time employees are still in high school and work on weekends and holidays, the company not only keeps the kids away from doing drugs and idle but they get to be exposed to the working environment at a young age.
MobiWashSA is currently available in 12 locations in the East and North of Johannesburg, and looks into expanding in other areas. The company has partnered with different companies to tackle social issues such as giving people access to clean drinking water to disadvantage communities through its water bank initiative.
