FNB Announced As The New Comrades Marathon Sponsor. First National Bank (FNB), has come on board as an official sponsor to The Ultimate Human Race. Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) Chairperson, Mqondisi Ngcobo made the announcement at a launch at Comrades House recently.

Ngcobo said, “We are proud to announce that the country’s oldest banking institution, FNB has decided to partner with the Comrades Marathon. Not only are they investing in the success of The Ultimate Human Race, but they are also committed to supporting South African sports at all levels – from grassroots to greatness. FNB shares that passion for South African sport and through its various sponsorship properties, which aims to help build future talent across various sporting codes, whether it’s road-running, rugby, football, netball, cricket or any of the eight university sports codes that they already sponsor,”

FNB will partner with The Ultimate Human Race as the Comrades Marathon’s official financial services provider for the next three years. “FNB has a long history of supporting participation sports, and we are excited to be a part of the world-renowned Comrades Marathon. This partnership is in line with our sponsorship strategy, which is centred on fostering social cohesion through sports and other initiatives,” says Bonga Sebesho, FNB Brand Experience Head. “Our participation and investment in this initiative also demonstrates our level of commitment to the reopening of our country and economy. Furthermore, we believe that the marathon and associated tourism are crucial in reviving KwaZulu-Natal’s regional economy. FNB is dedicated to maintaining its reputation as a trusted partner to its retail and commercial clients, as well as the broader society,”

Ngcobo has welcomed FNB as a new CMA sponsor, saying, “It is with a huge sense of excitement that we conclude this sponsorship agreement with FNB and welcome them to the Comrades Marathon family.” Ngcobo adds, “We are delighted to be working with the FNB team and look forward to the passion, positivity and value they bring to the relationship.
