The Cape Clothing & Textile Cluster’s Origin8: From Start-up To Scale-up Programme

The Cape Clothing & Textile Cluster’s Origin8: From Start-up To Scale-up Programme. The Cape Clothing & Textile Cluster (CCTC) has launched the “Origin8: From Start-up to Scale-up”, a programme that is designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in South Africa’s clothing, textile, footwear, and leather (CTFL) sector.

CCTC Origin8 is a programme that exposes small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Cape Town’s clothing, textile, footwear, and leather sector to leading customer requirements, and how they can better align their business offering with what big customers are looking for.

Who should apply?

CCTC Origin8 is open to all SMEs in the CTFL sector – from garment and footwear manufacturers to screening, printing and embroidery services – in Cape Town and surrounds, with over two years of trading experience, employing 10 or more people, and with an annual turnover between R2 million and R50 million. Preference will be given to businesses that are 51% or more Black-owned, with a focus on apparel manufacturing, leather, footwear, and related offerings.

How to apply?

Interested SMEs who qualify are encouraged to apply for this free programme before 2nd December 2024. Spaces are limited so if you want to gain a competitive advantage, early application is recommended.

The programme will be facilitated over two days:

21 January 2025: Full day, in-person workshop to gain first-hand insights into what leading retailers are looking for from local suppliers and equip SME participants with practical tools to align their business offering accordingly.

22 January 2025: Half-day, guided factory tour of a major national manufacturer and retailer. Successful applicants will access resources to help grow their business and further opportunities to engage directly with new/potential customers and other industry stakeholders.
