Kelso Expands Footprint with Stand-Alone Stores Across South Africa
Kelso Expands Footprint with Stand-Alone Stores Across South Africa. Kelso, a trusted Edgars Fashion brand since the early 1990s, is expanding its presence with new stand-alone stores, bringing its stylish, quality, and affordable fashion to more South Africans. The brand, known for its diverse offerings—including casual wear, formal attire, footwear, and accessories—continues to prioritise trendy designs tailored to local tastes.
“We have been amazed by the strong uptake of our Kelso brand by South Africans across the country,” commented Norman Drieselmann, CEO of Retailability. “Strategically, we need to broaden access to this fashion brand by opening in new markets.”
The first stand-alone Kelso store is set to open at Mthatha Circus Triangle on 27 November 2024, followed by another location at Galliera Mall in Durban. These stores aim to deliver the brand’s cornerstones of quality, fashion, and affordability in a tailored in-store shopping experience.
Over the years, Kelso has evolved by continually updating its offerings to align with changing consumer preferences. The introduction of stand-alone stores represents the brand’s commitment to innovation and improving the omni-channel shopping experience. “The extensive range of ladies’ apparel, footwear, and accessories in the new stores will appeal to the South African market,” Drieselmann added
Craig Charter, Property Development Executive for Retailability, highlighted the opportunities this expansion presents: “The stand-alone store gives us flexibility in placing suitable merchandise targeted at the relevant audience in the most appropriate locations. These stores will allow us to penetrate smaller shopping centres and strip malls, accommodating spaces from 250 to 350 square metres.”
While Kelso will remain part of the Edgars brand portfolio, the stand-alone stores will extend its reach to meet the growing demand for accessible, fashionable options across South Africa.
