Female Owned Accounting Firms In South Africa!

The world of Accounting, has legged behind, compared to other transforming and developing sectors such as Mining. But these few selected batch of female accountants in South Africa are not just simply going about their work, they are unconsciously paving the way for emerging accountants.

According to African Women Chartered Accountants (AWCA). The transformation has been quite slow where female accountants is concerned.

“The first female chartered accountant qualified in 1917, and it took another 70 years for the profession to have its first black female,CA, Nonkululeko Gobodo in 1987.”

Below is a list of Female owned accounting firms and practises in South Africa.

Zama Khanyile:

Zama Khanyile is a qualified chartered accountant and heads up uMnotho fund. The 34 year old also heads a team consisting of 15 investment processionals.

2. Millycent Mashele:

Millycent Mashele is an entrepreneur and chartered accountant. She is all for women empowerment in the rurals and township. Milly is also the founder of, The Legacy Centre –  a management consulting firm. Accounting was her third choice as she was applying at University, when it turned out that was the only course she was accepted for. In a way, Accounting chose her.

3. Tsebang Inc. Chartered Accountants & Auditors.

Tsebang Chartered Accountants thrives on a holistic approach to business solutions. The firm has offices in Gauteng and Limpopo provinces. This black female owned accounting firm has been in existence for more than ten years.

4. Kuhumelela

is proudly owned by the Lapoorta Sisters, Althea and Susan Lapoorta. The Chartered accountant and auditing firm and A level one BEE was established in May 2010 and its intention has always been about transforming the accounting industry in South Africa. They’re offices are located in Cape Town, KZN and Gauteng.

5. Nonkululeko Gobodo

Nonkululeko Gobodo remains an icon within the realm of accounting in South Africa. The Eastern Cape native made headlines for being the first black CA in South Africa back in 1987. She took a liking to Accounting when she was on a gap year break and was working as a bookkeeper at her father’s panel beating shop. In the year 2016, Nonku established Nkululeko Leadership Consulting, with her partners.
