- Dr. Tsega Gebreyesus is a Senior Global Health Researcher at the USU Center for Global Health Engagement (CGHE).
- She spent over a decade studying and working in diverse contexts throughout Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.
- Prior to joining CGHE, she trained and worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta in the Office on Smoking and Health’s Policy Branch and the Office for Public Health Preparedness and Response’s Division for Emergency Operations.
- She also worked as a lead international consultant on a multi-country research project with Catholic Relief Services and as an Associate Protection Officer with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
- She obtained her PhD in International Health from the Johns Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of Public Health and her MPH in Epidemiology and Global Health from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
- She also received her BA in anthropology from Bryn Mawr College.
