How Zulzi Is Helping South Africans Order Groceries Through A Mobile App. Going to shop can be a tedious task or a task that one doesn’t have time to do, when people are faced with this problem they just simply delayed going and then find themselves not getting what they needed. The majority of South Africans use public transport and aren’t able to carry many of the things that they need from the stores this then forces them to make multiple trips to the stores which makes it a costly task as they will be using more transport money. Having an innovative delivery service like Zulzi is what busy South Africans need in order for them to get essentials that they need.
Zulzi is an on demand delivery platform where customers can buy anything around their area and get it delivered to them in less than one hour. It was co-founded in 2016 by Donald Valoyi who is the Chief Operating Officer (CEO) and Michael Netshipise who serves as the company’s Chief Technical Officer (CTO).
The company is the first digital mall in the world where you can find multiple categories of stores form groceries, liquor, pharmaceuticals and restaurants. It promises to always ensure that they do not take a lot of time to the items of the customers whenever they need them. In an interview with Financial Mail Valoyi said, “So we created a messaging platform that enables our shoppers to chat with customers and replace missing items of their choice in real time.”
Customers are able to search the entire city and buy from multiple shops; this can be accessed by downloading the Zulzi mobile application which is available on android play store and apple store.
Customers can order from their favourite stores such as Pick n Pay, Woolworths and Dis-chem and get their items delivered within an hour, with delivery fees ranging from R20 to R85. “We have fixed logistics and introduced multiple payment methods, but we still need to work with financial institutions to tackle fraud and we need to penetrate the townships and remote areas to offer the affordable delivery to their door.” said Valoyi in an interview with Financial Mail.
