The alcohol industry is very lucrative; hence celebrities are using their power to established liquor brands that will create additional income for them. Below are some of the South African female celebrities that have ventured into the liquor business.

Bonang Matheba

Bonang Matheba is also the first black woman to become a member of the Cap Classique Producers Association. She said: “The House of BNG has been a passion project of mine for a long time. It’s no secret that champagne is my favourite drink, so getting the chance to make my own MCC was an opportunity I couldn’t miss out on!” Bonang Matheba’s House of BNG continues its unstoppable ascent in the South African luxury beverage market with its latest release, BNG Nectar, one of the first South African luxury beverage brands to produce a true sparkling wine in a can.

DJ Zinhle

The internationally renowned entertainer who recently acquired equity in the Boulevard brand and was appointed CEO has been hard at work to not only grow the brand, but extend the brand family. Her signature edition MCC was launched late in December. BLVD Luxury Nectar DJ Zinhle Signature Edition MCC, this polished MCC is a carefully crafted blend of handpicked Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. To add complexity to the product, a portion of the Chardonnay is fermented in older French Oak barrels. The MCC is kept at the winery to mature in the bottle for a minimum of 9 months.

Boity Thulo

Boitumelo ‘Boity’ Thulo is expanding her brand with the launch of BT Signature, a range of premium, superior-tasting alcoholic and non-alcoholic sparkling fruit beverages. Boity said her drink will be available at all Shoprite LiquorShop stores nationwide.
