Brands That Have Distanced Themselves From Somizi Mhlongo Since The Abuse Allegations Were Aired By His Estranged Husband. Somizi Mhlongo’s estraged husband Mohale Motaung shared to the public that during his marriage to Somizi, he was abused at the hands of Somizi. These allegations led to many brands that were associated with the media personality to distance themselves from him amid the allegations, so that they could avoid bad publicity.

Metro FM agreed to give Somizi some time off work amid the abuse allegations. Somizi is the host of The Bridge with Dineo Ranaka and the Naked DJ. “The SABC can confirm Metro FM management met with Mr Somizi Mhlongo and he has requested to take some time off from work. Management has granted Mr Mhlongo permission to do so. The Corporation has also noted the comments on social media about Mr. Mhlongo and we would like to point out that the public service broadcaster does not condone any acts of abuse and violence”. The SABC posted on Twitter.

M-Net, the television network, also announced on that it has given the Idols judge some time off from the show to deal with personal concerns. Somizi is the judge on the popular singing competition Idols South Africa, the show airs on the M-Net network.

According to reports South African Media Personality Somizi Mhlongo was told by Bathu Footwear bosses that it would be best if the company would distance itself from him amid the abuse allegations by his estranged husband Mohale Motaung. Mhlongo didn’t appear at Bathu’s 28th store opening even though he is the brand ambassador of the brand, the footwear brand replaced Mhlongo with DJ Tira and the Qwabe twins as the celebrity guests at the store opening. This further created confirmations on the reports of the company distancing themselves from Mhlongo.
