Entrepreneur Marshall Malaba Highlights The Significance Of Digital Entrepreneurship In The Modern Era. In an interview with DJ Sbu on the Hustler’s Corner YouTube page, Digital Entrepreneur Marshall Malaba pointed out how Digital Entrepreneurship has become a significant sector in the entrepreneurship industry. Digital innovators are moving away from traditional methods of doing business by embracing the new digital technological era that we are in.

Malaba said, “… You are meant to go to school and study when you are done studying there are meant to be jobs and opportunities available but all this stuff was just eliminated, we have got so many graduates and many people graduating every single year but there is nothing for them to do. People with degrees are vendors on the streets, so I also found myself in that situation which forced me to go into entrepreneurship. I started selling laptops with my friend, we would use the traditional methods of printing out flyers to distribute but we didn’t have money to continue printing.”

“After a while our company started growing, I didn’t know what I was doing but it was more than what other people were doing because social media was a whole new thing at that time, I was just creating Facebook pages and posting content daily and sharing on groups… the company grew so much that local universities were calling me to teach social media marketing and digital entrepreneurship.” Malaba continued.

Malaba also emphasised that digital entrepreneurship is similar to traditional entrepreneurship except with digital entrepreneurship, one is using digital tools like a phone, laptop and the internet. “When you are a digital entrepreneur, you are someone who is transacting information, you have information, you know how it works, and you are presenting it to people who need that information and you are helping them achieve their goals through the internet.” Malaba added.

This shows that entrepreneurship is not bound to any traditional methods but people can use innovative technology to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. The introduction of digital technology has enabled people from all over the world to transact and communicate easily therefore conducting business has become much simpler in the online space. This opens up a wide range of entrepreneurial opportunities that wouldn’t exist without digital innovation.
