Jewellery Studio ‘Black Betty’ Seeks To Offer Jewellery Pieces That Create Long Lasting Memories

Jewellery Studio ‘Black Betty’ Seeks To Offer Jewellery Pieces That Create Long Lasting Memories. Founded in 2012 by South African designer Kristin Weixelbaumer, Black Betty is a South African based jewellery & piercing studio. Throughout its existence the company sought to create unique & distinctive pieces for those who are drawn to striking jewellery with an emotional connection. It makes sure to create, & pierce with jewellery that plays with the boundaries between contemporary style & ancient beauty as it uses natural hand-cut gemstones & precious metals.

Jewellery pieces much like any other valued item has sentimental value that is attached to it, this makes the connection between the owner and the jewellery piece. This is why jewellery can be passed down as a gift from generations to generations because it signifies the different memories that people have experienced with that particular piece, thus creating value that sometimes can’t be bought with money.

In Kristin’s family, the tradition of heirloom jewellery and the creativity that can come with it begins with a ring designed by her grandmother. Its undulating coils of gold resemble a snake with a black diamond for an eye, and today the women and girls in the family have their own replica of the design with the eye in their birthstone. Another serpentine piece adorns Kristen’s wrist: the diamond snake bangle.

Black Betty values the individual as each and every person is formed with different imperfections, desires & passions. The company seeks to create its jewellery with this philosophy in mind, allowing each piece to be an expression of one’s unique personality. The company also has an ear curation experience which focuses on one’s personal choice of piercing jewellery and placement.

‘Betty’ is a term the company uses to encompass all women and all that they are for example, their strength, femininity and unstoppable force. For the company, the term ‘Black’ represents a woman’s inner force. Women empowerment is fundamental to Black Betty, this is because it wants women to be their best, true selves.

The company is proud to offer bespoke jewellery design. Each piece is created through a personal journey with its clients. Black Betty believes in the power of natural gemstones, and wants its jewellery to speak to its clients and release an energy that connects them. The company believes that the right piece can ground them and help balance them and release negative energies through the stones and the designs.
