Nonhlanhla Gumede Details The Lessons She Has Learnt Throughout Her Farming Journey. In an interview with the Expresso Show, farming entrepreneur Nonhlanhla Gumede detailed the lessons she has learnt throughout her farming journey. The entrepreneur left her job in the banking sector to pursue her passion of being in the Agriculture business.

She said, “Its been an journey its been wonderful, I bought this farm in 2017 with my dad’s assistance obviously. You know, I’ve learnt that working your own few farm is not easy, you need to put your mind into it, you need to focus, you need to be determined, you need to focus or else it won’t work out.”

UThandimvelo Farm is a sugarcane farm that was established by Nonhlanhla Gumede to fulfil her passion of being in the Agriculture industry. Gumede always knew that she wanted to be working in the farming industry as she was inspired by her farther who is also a farmer. She worked in the banking sector until she finally resigned and joined her father’s farm. She was very instrumental in helping the farm turn around and become as successful as it is today.

To Gumede working on her father’s farm wasn’t enough as she had her own entrepreneurial aspirations, she then decided to buy her own farm so that she can fully experience having her own farm and working her own land. Gumede says that the journey has not been easy as the farming industry has its own challenges. However, she also emphasised that when one wants to be successful in the industry they should put their mind to it, be determined and be focused to achieve the goals that they have set.

Gumede highlights the hard work that is needed in order to successfully build a farm that is profitable. This is why people are encouraged to follow their passions, they will find their purpose and therefore work very hard to make sure that their purpose is fulfilled to the best of their abilities.
