Pioneer Foods Discontinues Pecks Anchovette And Redro Fish Paste

Pioneer Foods Discontinues Pecks Anchovette And Redro Fish Paste. It has been reported that Pioneer Foods has discontinued Pecks Anchovette And Redro Fish Paste. Pecks Anchovette is a brand that was formed in South Africa in the 1960s but it originally came from the UK. The Redro fish spread was first made in the 1930’s by the Stephan family in the Cape. It was made to compete with Britain’s already popular Pecks Anchovette Paste.

“We communicated this to our customers, stopped production and discontinued the sale of related items in December 2021,” the spokesperson told Business Insider South Africa. Pioneer Foods is one of the largest South African producers and distributors of a range of branded food and beverage products.

The Group operates mainly across South Africa, providing wholesale, retail and informal trade customers with products of a consistently high standard. Pioneer Foods exports to more than 80 countries across the globe. The growing international business represents 21% of operating profit. “Products will therefore remain available for purchase by consumers as long as the retailers have stock on hand. We are in the process of finalising the sale of the related assets/brands to a 3rd party,” the spokesperson added. The Group operates a number of world-class production facilities producing a range of products that includes some of the most recognisable and best loved brand names in South Africa, including the following power brands: Weet-Bix, Liqui-Fruit, Ceres, Sasko, Safari, Spekko and White Star.

Pioneer Foods was established in 1997 and is a subsidiary of PepsiCo. The company is discontinuing these products because people are no longer consuming them as they used to. It communicated with its customers that the company will stop produce these products, this is an end of an era that was meaningful to a lot of people who will have to find a new fish paste they can rely on.
