SA Start-Up Obsidian Systems Announces Its Partnership With Enterprise DB

SA Start-Up Obsidian Systems Announces Its Partnership With Enterprise DB. It has been reported that Obsidian Systems has partnered with a multinational provider of software and services based on the PostgreSQL open source database, to deliver EDB solutions and support to the African market.

“This new partnership with Obsidian Systems represents our shared commitment to enable clients to be highly successful using Postgres,” Gabriel Breeman, vice-president: global channels and alliances at EDB told IT ONLINE. “We see this collaboration as a strategic move to bring South African customers a strong open-source solution for modern database applications. Whether they want to manage on-premises, move to the cloud, or take a hybrid approach, we can help them migrate off legacy databases, while maintaining mission-critical capabilities, at a fraction of the cost.”

Obsidian Systems is an established supplier of Open Source software solutions. The company was started in 1995 as a modest services provider targeting businesses and organisations looking to integrate and leverage off Linux infrastructure. Obsidian Systems has expanded by adding both Autumn Leaf and GuruHut as subsidiaries. The expansion of skills is now a formidable team with Java expertise aligning its Enterprise Open Source solution for retail, supporting technology and consulting services across enterprise-ready open-source infrastructure, big data, collaboration and bimodal IT strategies for its client’s business.

Obsidian Systems and its subsidiaries, GuruHut and Autumn Leaf strive to bring three legs to the South African market: the first being vendor-certified products, the second being local skills providing consulting, development and support and the third being vendor-certified training and certification. With these three elements, any organisation can trust the enterprise open source solution provided.

Obsidian Systems is a Level 1 contributor to Broad-based Black Economic empowered supplier of open source software solutions in South Africa. EnterpriseDB, a privately held company based in Massachusetts, provides software and services based on the open-source database PostgreSQL, and is one of the largest contributors to Postgres.
