Through its network of partnerships with leading organisations the company is able to focus on the development of learners, teachers and the education sector as a whole. Its partnerships allow it to offer skills development opportunities to learners which they would otherwise not have had. Founder and Managing Director at MiDO Technologies, Dale Simons, is changing lives through technology and ensuring that the youth is prepared for the digital future.
For the past eight years, Dale Simons has been on a mission to prepare learners and teachers at disadvantaged schools across South Africa with digital skills for the future. This he does through the MiDO Foundation, the non-profit arm of MiDO Technologies, the Jamestown-based company he founded after spending more than 15 years in senior roles in the fields of information and communication technology, and systems implementation, support and training for large corporate companies. At MiDO, Dale creates digital hubs in underprivileged schools with the aim of changing lives. At these hubs, young people are connecting with opportunities to gain digital skills and learn about technology in a fun and exciting way.
The MiDO Digital Hub is designed around the Makerspace concept. It is a space intended for young people to engage with technology to develop their 21st century critical skills. The Hub is an exciting space to learn about robotics, coding, graphic design, etc. these skills are then integrated with the learners personal development through its Quest Online Platform. Each of the MiDO Hubs are operated and managed by the Hub Manager. The Hub Co-ordinator assists the Manager by coordinating the Hub activities. The Hub Co-ordinators are continuously developing their skills and knowledge. The MiDO Digital Hub is a space for learners to collaborate with each other, to challenge each other’s thinking and outlook on life in order to transform their lives.
