Inscape Introduces Entrepreneurship Certificate to Equip Aspiring Founders

Inscape Introduces Entrepreneurship Certificate to Equip Aspiring Founders. Inscape has announced the launch of a new higher certificate in entrepreneurship, aimed at equipping aspiring founders and innovators with the practical skills needed to develop and launch business ideas.

The qualification is an NQF Level 5 programme worth 120 credits and is set to welcome its first intake in July 2026. Students will have the option to complete the course through contact learning over one year or through distance learning over one to two years.

According to programme manager Shimone Dornbrack, the initiative responds to a growing need for practical entrepreneurial education. She noted that while many people have ideas and ambition, there is often a gap in the foundational knowledge and mindset required to turn those ideas into action.

The programme was developed following engagement with industry, where employers indicated a demand for individuals who can think independently, solve problems, and contribute innovative ideas in the workplace. At the same time, the course acknowledges that more individuals are exploring alternatives to traditional employment pathways.

A key feature of the programme is its practical focus. Students are introduced to real-world challenges early in their studies and are expected to work on developing their own business ideas throughout the course. By the time they graduate, participants will have created a business plan and gained experience in pitching their concepts.

The curriculum covers areas such as identifying opportunities, solving real problems, developing and testing business ideas, understanding how businesses operate, and adapting to change through creative thinking. In addition, students are required to complete 240 hours of industry engagement as part of their training.

The higher certificate format was selected to ensure accessibility and quicker application of skills. Dornbrack explained that the programme does not require extensive prior study and can be completed within a shorter timeframe, allowing students to apply what they have learned soon after starting.

The course is designed for individuals at different stages, including those with early-stage ideas, those looking to contribute more effectively within existing organisations, and those seeking a practical alternative to traditional university pathways.

Graduates of the programme may go on to start their own businesses, work within startups or small enterprises, or pursue further studies.

Applications for the July 2026 intake are now open. More information is available here: https://www.inscape.ac/courses/undergraduate/higher-certificate/
