Mac G’s Grandeur Gin Announces A Major Partnership With Makro. South African Podcaster Mac G took to Twitter to announce that his Grandeur Gin brand has partnered with Makro and it will be available at all Makro liquor stores nationwide.

The post read, “I’m proud to announce that Grandeur Gin is now officially available at all Makro stores!!!! Thank you for continuing to support and help grow the brand! Danko #GrandeurGin #GrandeurAtMakro” Mac G shared this milestone to his supporters so that they can see the growth that the brand has been through throughout the years of its existence.

Mac G explained on his podcast about the difficulties a small black owned alcohol business faces when they want to penetrate the established liquor retail stores as there are systems that have already been set up by white people who have been in the industry for decades that exclude the majority of black alcohol entrepreneurs. With the way Grandeur Gin went viral after it trended for being a ‘truth serum’, the brand has seen a spike in sales and retail stores have also noticed this and are therefore interested in working with it as they see the impact it has in the market.

Makro is an international brand of warehouse clubs, also called cash and carry stores. Makro was founded by SHV Holdings, a Dutch conglomerate based in Utrecht in partnership with German company Metro AG, with the first warehouse club opened in Amsterdam in 1968. Currently, ownership of the worldwide chain of stores is split between different companies like Metro AG in Europe (except UK), SHV Holdings in Latin America (except Peru), CP All in Asia and Massmart in South Africa.

The company has a total of 22 stores that trade in South Africa, bringing convenience and affordability to local households and businesses. With the ecommerce addition to its digital offering, customers can now enjoy Makro’s deals and value-added services across a broader reach of locations. This is a good partnership for Grandeur Gin as Makro has a big reach in the country and it is also a well trusted retailer therefore Grandeur Gin will increase its brand value through the association.
