ArcelorMittal South Africa Appoints Gavin Griffiths CFO. ArcelorMittal South Africahas announced the appointment of Mr Gavin Griffiths, currently Chief Strategy Officer of the company, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Executive Director of ArcelorMittal South Africa with effect from 1 April 2024.

Mr Griffiths has been acting as Interim CFO since 17 July 2023 and has in this role overseen the preparation and announcement of both the interim and year-end financial results. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a B Comm (Acc, B Acc and MComm (cum laude).

Mr Griffiths re-joined ArcelorMittal South Africa in 2018, having previously worked for the company for 14 years (1998 to 2012). He has over 25 years of experience in business, which includes experience in management, financial and executive leadership roles, spanning a wide range of financial disciplines, including auditing, financial reporting, controlling, mergers and acquisitions and business optimisation and transformation.

ArcelorMittal South Africa Limited is the largest steel producer on the African continent, with a production capacity of 7.8 million tonnes of liquid steel per annum. The company has a depth of technical and managerial expertise carefully nurtured since 1928, a reputation for reliability and a sharply defined business focus, which has forged the organisation into a modern, highly competitive supplier of steel products to the domestic and global markets.

The Board of ArcelorMittal South Africa is satisfied that Mr Griffiths has the necessary knowledge of the steel industry and the company, as well as the qualifications, expertise and experience to fulfil the role of CFO effectively.
