How Hohm Energy Aims To Build A Global Solar Network To Accelerate The Renewable Energy Transition. Hohm Energy helps homeowners and businesses to go solar with accredited solar providers in their area in just a few clicks. The company is evolving the solar purchasing experience for its clients by using scalable technology that seamlessly manages their entire solar journey.
Going solar is complicated, riddled with compliance and many moving parts, hence the company provides a managed marketplace that streamlines its clients’ entire solar journey. Hohm is an online software platform and marketplace that connects customers, accredited solar providers, product suppliers and financiers in a few clicks. From there, it manages its clients’ entire solar journey from scoping for the solution, installation and ongoing operations and maintenance.
Back in 2013, the company started a solar installation and engineering subsidiary in South Africa. The company quickly realised the scaling limitations of a solar engineering business and it set out to build a scaling tool to help its own business grow. It took its industry know-how and paired it with software development expertise to generate bespoke client solar proposals and automate workflows to speed up the solar sales and deployment journey.
The company realised its mission was greater than helping its own solar business scale, in favour of helping the solar industry. This lead to it rebuilding the source code in 2020 and spinning out of Hohm in 2021 as stand alone climate-tech startup. The company is now in pursuit of building a global solar network to accelerate the renewable energy transition.
