Ener-G-Africa Launches Africa’s Only All-Female Solar Panel Assembly Plant In Cape Town. The grand opening of Ener-G-Africa’s Cape Town all-female solar panel plant took place today. The launch was attended by Alderman Vos, the City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, and Wrenelle Stander, the CEO of Wesgro. The plant has a maximum capacity of 15 MW per annum, has created 53 jobs, and will operate 24 hours a day, five days a week.

The facility is the culmination of a $2.1 million investment and will produce up to 20MW of panels per annum targeting markets in the SADC. The unique wins are an all-female work force (the only one on the continent), as well as being the only German TÜV Rheinland certified small solar panel manufacturer in the world. This $2.1million investment into the mother city was facilitated by GreenCape’s Lisa Johansson.
