PayJustNow and Medicross Introduce Flexible Payment Option for GP and Dental Visits

PayJustNow and Medicross Introduce Flexible Payment Option for GP and Dental Visits. South African buy now, pay later provider PayJustNow has partnered with Netcare Medicross to offer patients a new payment option designed to help manage the upfront costs associated with private healthcare consultations and treatments.
The partnership introduces buy now, pay later (BNPL) and extended payment options across Medicross medical and dental centres, marking a new expansion for PayJustNow beyond its traditional retail-focused offering.
According to the companies, the initiative aims to provide patients with greater flexibility when paying for healthcare services, particularly in situations where medical or dental treatment is required unexpectedly.
Netcare Medicross forms part of Netcare’s Primary Care Division and facilitates more than 1.5 million patient visits annually through its Medicross and Prime Cure centres located across eight provinces.
The companies said the new payment option is intended to address a common challenge faced by many patients, namely managing the immediate financial impact of healthcare expenses.
Private consultations, dental procedures and other primary healthcare services can often create budgetary pressure, particularly for individuals paying out of pocket or those whose medical aid benefits are limited.
Dean Hyde, chief operating officer at PayJustNow, said the solution is designed to help patients manage necessary healthcare costs through structured repayment arrangements.
Hyde said the offering is focused on affordability and predictable repayments rather than encouraging additional spending.
Sara Nayager, managing director of Netcare Medicross, said the addition of PayJustNow provides patients with another payment option while ensuring healthcare providers receive full payment at the time services are rendered.
Under the agreement, PayJustNow becomes Medicross’s exclusive BNPL provider.
The partnership follows PayJustNow’s expansion into other healthcare-related sectors, including optometry and physiotherapy services.
According to the company, the latest development reflects growing consumer demand for flexible payment solutions in categories beyond retail purchases.
Hyde said BNPL services are increasingly being used in areas where consumers require financial flexibility for essential services rather than discretionary spending.
The partnership also aligns with PayJustNow’s broader strategy of expanding into sectors that support everyday consumer needs and participation in the economy.
