Black Woman Owned Wine Brand Nanola Seeks To Create Through Sustainable Practices

Black Woman Owned Wine Brand Nanola Seeks To Create Through Sustainable Practices. Nanola Wines is a 100% black woman owned wine brand. Nanola Wine grapes are of high quality, sourced from various wine regions of the Western Cape, South Africa. It is a brand that carries elements of a personal story, family, culture and origin; given birth to by the founder, Silindile Zuma, as a way of paying homage to her late father.

Nanola is a mashup of 2 words that have great meaning to the founder, Silindile Zuma. The 1st word is “iron” which her father called her as a term of endearment. The 2nd word is “Nina” a Spanish word for little girl as she will always be her father’s strong little girl. It is therefore the company’s submission that Nanola means feminine strength which invokes intense feelings of passion, trustworthiness & intent.

The founder, being of Nguni descent; the inspiration for the logo was drawn from the Zulu beadwork which is mostly triangular in design. The Nanola logo is, in part; a geometric representation of a Zulu love letter, “ibheqe”. In this context, it is symbolising an outpouring of love from the goodness of the soil, the grapes and into your glass – the exact qualities embodied in the brand’s wines. The wines are made in Franschhoek, though some of the grapes are sourced from outside the region.

Nanola’s philosophy is to responsibly produce quality wines that are accessible, forming part of a sustainable quality lifestyle for its customers.
