The company provides easy and convenient veggie garden boxes to consumers who do not have sufficient space to grow their own vegetables.

Being unemployed and having to feed 4 children had forced Renschia Manuel to grow vegetables in her own backyard in order to feed her family. This sparked the drive to teach households how to grow their own food at their homes. The knowledge that many households had no access to land in order to grow their own food had prompted her to develop GrowBox. Now GrowBox Nursery supports households with growing their own food sustainably for a brighter future.

During the COVID-19 pandemic the urban farm was established to grow fresh produce for communities affected by the rising food prices and job losses. The urban farmers’ market was the established to not only sell farm produce but, was a space for local artisans to sell their goods too.

The purpose of the urban farm was to cater to low-income households that could not afford store bought produce. At the same time, the market provided a safe, family friendly and holistic place for economic opportunities for vendors to exhibit their goods at the market. Those financially affected by the pandemic had the opportunity to purchase fresh produce at below retail cost and it gave vendors the opportunity to showcase and sell their goods at the Urban Farmers’ Market.
