How Kea Ncube Agri Services Aims To Create Self-Sufficient Communities. Kea Ncube Agri Services (KNAS) is an agriculture and farming company providing innovative and scientific farming solutions and services to small- and medium-sized enterprises, as well as commercial firms. KNAS was founded in 2020, by Dr Keabetswe Ncube, a genomics and biotechnology specialist, who has a passion for creating an enabling and self-sufficient community through agriculture.
Dr Keabetswe Ncube was born and raised in the village of Pella, in North West. Her love for farming and agriculture stemmed from an early age, when she started learning about farming from her father, and gained an interest in resolving farming related challenges. Dr Ncube is passionate about biotechnology and animal genetics, and skilled in DNA & RNA sequencing, bioinformatics, genotyping, and livestock improvement. She has a strong research background, holding a Master of Science (MSc) in Life Sciences focused on Statistical Genomics from University of South Africa and a PhD in Genetics from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
KNAS sought to support smallholder farmers and agri-preneurs aspiring to break into the farming and agriculture business through various interventions, including community-based breeding programs. Over time, Dr Ncube began working with established businesses, providing farming management and livestock data management services. She has consulted for a number of established farms across Gauteng and North West, and continues to avail her services to other parts of South Africa.
Kea Ncube Agri Services has experience in developing and conducting training for farmers and farming businesses, remote farm management, livestock data management, agricultural consultations, as well as meat (chevon) and eggs sales. The company’s services are dedicated to supporting farmers from early development phase to becoming well-established firms that serve a variety of communities and stakeholders. The company also organised and participates in career guidance activities and events, sharing information and advice with young people on taking agriculture and biotechnology as a career.
