NYDA and Canva to Host Youth Digital Skills Activation at Mangosuthu University of Technology

NYDA and Canva to Host Youth Digital Skills Activation at Mangosuthu University of Technology. Young people interested in learning practical digital design skills will have an opportunity to do so at an upcoming youth activation hosted by the National Youth Development Agency in partnership with Canva.

The Canva Youth Activation event is aimed at equipping unemployed youth and aspiring entrepreneurs with practical digital tools that can support both employment opportunities and entrepreneurial development. The session will take place on 12 March 2026 at the Student Centre Seminar Room on the main campus of Mangosuthu University of Technology in Umlazi.

The activation is scheduled to run from 13:30 to 16:30 and will introduce participants to design tools available through the Canva platform. According to the organisers, the event is designed to help young people learn how to create digital content that can be used for professional and business purposes.

During the session, participants will receive guidance on how to design visual content using Canva. The training will focus on helping attendees create professional looking designs while also introducing them to ways they can develop their personal brands.

Organisers say the activation is part of broader efforts to support youth development by providing access to digital skills that are increasingly important in modern workplaces and business environments. The session will also explore how design tools can be used to create business assets that entrepreneurs may need when launching or promoting their ventures.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a phone, laptop, or tablet so they can participate in the hands on session and practice using the design tools during the workshop.

The event is open to young people who want to improve their digital literacy while exploring ways to strengthen their personal and professional profiles. By learning to create visual content such as presentations, marketing graphics, and branded materials, participants can gain skills that may assist them in both employment and entrepreneurial settings.

The organisers say the activation is intended to provide practical exposure to creative digital tools while encouraging young people to explore new ways of presenting their ideas, projects, and businesses.

Young people interested in attending can register by scanning the QR code provided on the event poster shared by the organisers.
