Vhembe District Opens Applications for Youth in Business Competition 2026

Vhembe District Opens Applications for Youth in Business Competition 2026. Young entrepreneurs across the Vhembe region are being invited to step forward and showcase their businesses through the Youth in Business Competition 2026. The initiative, organised by the Vhembe District Municipality in partnership with several key institutions, aims to recognise the work young business owners are doing within their communities.
The competition is being hosted in collaboration with the National Youth Development Agency, the Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency, the University of Venda, and the Department of Agriculture in the Vhembe District. Together, the partners are encouraging youth-owned businesses and cooperatives to apply and share the impact of their work.
According to the organisers, the Youth in Business Competition is designed to celebrate innovation, commitment, and the role young entrepreneurs play in local economic activity. The programme provides a platform for youth-led enterprises to gain recognition for their contributions across different sectors.
Entrepreneurs operating in various industries will be able to enter the competition under several categories. These include agriculture, tourism, enterprise for small, medium, and micro enterprises, as well as a category for cooperative entities. There is also a dedicated category recognising businesses led by persons with disabilities.
By introducing a range of categories, the organisers are opening the competition to a diverse group of entrepreneurs who are building businesses in different parts of the local economy. From agricultural ventures to tourism initiatives and cooperative enterprises, the competition aims to reflect the variety of entrepreneurial activity taking place in the region.
Youth-owned businesses that wish to participate are required to submit their applications before the official closing date. Application forms are available at selected offices as well as through online platforms listed on the competition poster.
The closing date for submissions has been set for 24 April 2026. Entrepreneurs interested in taking part are encouraged to obtain the necessary forms and complete their applications before the deadline.
Initiatives such as the Youth in Business Competition play an important role in highlighting emerging entrepreneurs and the businesses they are building. By creating opportunities for young people to present their work and achievements, programmes like this bring attention to the growing presence of youth-led enterprises within local communities.
For many young business owners, competitions and recognition programmes can provide valuable visibility. They also offer a chance to connect with organisations that support entrepreneurship development and small business growth.
Entrepreneurs across the Vhembe District who are running businesses or cooperatives now have an opportunity to share their work and participate in a programme dedicated to celebrating youth entrepreneurship in the region.
