Gauteng’s entrepreneurial talent was in focus as the 2026 edition of the 702 MTN Small Business Awards – Let’s Talk Shop concluded with a gala event in Sandton. Hosted at Primedia Place on 23 April, the awards recognised small businesses making notable contributions across industries.

Now in its third year in partnership with MTN South Africa, the initiative continues to highlight enterprises that demonstrate innovation, community engagement, and growth potential. Finalists were assessed by a panel representing MTN and Primedia Broadcasting.

Three businesses emerged as the top winners. First place was awarded to All Day Jam Pty Ltd, founded by Gontse Selaocoe. The company blends organic farming with artisanal food production, offering a range of distinctive jam flavours while employing a growing team and distributing through retail channels.

Second place went to The Wheelchair Doctor and Manufacturing, led by Mongezi Majenge. The business focuses on mobility solutions designed to improve accessibility, including specialised wheelchairs suited for varied environments.

The Learning Space, founded by Ernest Rangaka, secured third place. The education-focused enterprise works to improve how learners engage with Mathematics and Science, using digital tools and alternative teaching approaches to broaden access.

In addition to the winners, the competition recognised several finalists across sectors such as home décor, travel, cleaning services, footwear design, education, and community-focused initiatives. These businesses represent a wide spectrum of entrepreneurial activity within Gauteng.

Organisers noted that the awards aim to provide a platform for small businesses to gain visibility and support as they expand. The event also underscored the role of entrepreneurship in contributing to economic activity and job creation.
