Newskoop and Edge Communications Launch Campaign to Spotlight South African Small Businesses

Newskoop and Edge Communications Launch Campaign to Spotlight South African Small Businesses. Ten South African small businesses have been selected to share their entrepreneurial journeys with audiences nationwide through a new partnership between Newskoop and Edge Communications.

The initiative forms part of Edge Communications’ 10th anniversary campaign, titled 10 Years. 10 Businesses. 10 Stories., and will see the featured businesses profiled on Bizskoops, a programme distributed through Newskoop’s community radio network and digital platforms.

Beginning in August, Bizskoops will air interviews with the selected entrepreneurs, providing them with an opportunity to discuss their businesses, the challenges they have faced, their achievements and their plans for the future.

The businesses represent a diverse range of industries, including legal services, food and beverages, sport, healthcare, beauty, education, retail and hunting. The selected participants are M Worth Attorneys in Pretoria, Helden Distillery in Parys, MMAAK Performance Institute in Pretoria, Maison Gené in Pretoria, AC & EZ Orthopaedics in Gqeberha, Kholo Beauty Salon in Johannesburg, Warriors Gymnastics Center in Pretoria, Love2Learn in Pretoria, The Home Decor Depot in Polokwane and Predator Pro in Pretoria.

Through the collaboration, Newskoop aims to connect listeners with the stories behind the businesses by leveraging its established community radio network and digital distribution channels.

Newskoop Managing Director Kim du Plessis said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to recognising the contribution of entrepreneurs to local communities.

“It is a privilege to partner with Edge Communications on an initiative that celebrates the resilience and ambition of South African entrepreneurs. Every business has a story worth telling, and those stories have the power to inspire, connect, and strengthen communities. We’re proud that Bizskoops and our community radio network can help give these businesses the visibility they deserve,” she said.

Edge Communications Founder and Managing Director Daleen Gouws said selecting the final participants was a challenging process after the campaign attracted more than 100 nominations.

“It was difficult to choose only ten businesses while we received more than 100 nominations. By partnering with Newskoop, we are able to give these businesses a meaningful platform and help ensure their stories are heard,” she said.

The campaign will also be promoted through Newskoop’s wider media channels to expand its reach across South Africa.

Bizskoops is distributed weekly through the Newskoop Portal to subscribed community radio stations and is also available on major streaming platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Podcasts. The programme features interviews with business leaders, entrepreneurs and industry experts, delivering business-focused content to audiences across the country while highlighting the experiences and achievements of South African enterprises.
