South African EdTech Firm Teach Me 2 Earns Place on Time’s 2026 Global Top 100 List. South African education technology company Teach Me 2 has been recognised among Time’s World’s Top EdTech Companies 2026, marking a significant milestone for the country’s growing technology sector and highlighting the global potential of locally developed education platforms.
The company, which connects families with tutors for learners from Grade 1 through to university, has delivered more than one million tutoring lessons. Its services are available across a wide range of subjects through both online and in-person sessions, with more than 10,000 families currently using the platform.
Founder and CEO Nick Miller said the international recognition extends beyond the company’s own achievements and demonstrates that globally competitive education technology can be developed in South Africa.
“We have exceptional people in this country who can solve difficult problems, build enduring businesses and compete internationally. The environment isn’t always easy, but globally relevant education technology can absolutely be built from South Africa,” he said.
Miller identified two strategic decisions that shaped the company’s growth. Around 2017, Teach Me 2 invested heavily in technology designed to improve tutor and learner matching, strengthen customer support, enhance learning outcomes and enable the business to scale while maintaining quality.
The company also developed its online tutoring capabilities before the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing it to transition quickly when face-to-face tutoring was disrupted. That foundation later supported its expansion into more than 50 countries.
According to Miller, Teach Me 2 has focused on solving practical learning challenges rather than adopting technology for its own sake. He said the company prioritises tools that improve personalised learning experiences while making educational support more accessible and scalable.
Another key factor has been its emphasis on customer experience and a rigorous tutor selection process. Miller said tutors are assessed not only on academic ability but also on their character, reliability and ability to connect with learners, helping the company build trust and grow through referrals.
Looking ahead, Miller believes advances in artificial intelligence will complement rather than replace teachers and tutors. He said technology should be used to strengthen personalised education by helping educators become more effective while expanding access to quality learning support.
Reflecting on the company’s latest achievement, Miller described the recognition as an important milestone rather than a final destination. He said Teach Me 2 intends to build on its experience as it develops the next phase of its education platform while continuing to expand its global presence.
