Toyota South Africa Opens Applications for 2027 Graduate Training Programme. Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) has opened applications for its 2027 Graduate Training Programme, offering graduates an opportunity to gain practical workplace experience while developing technical, professional and leadership skills within the automotive industry.
The two-year programme combines workplace assignments, formal training, mentorship and exposure to different areas of Toyota South Africa’s operations.
Participants will be involved in business projects and work alongside experienced professionals as they gain practical knowledge of the automotive sector. The programme follows Toyota’s global development framework, with 70% of learning taking place through practical work assignments and business projects.
A further 20% of the learning is allocated to formal technical and classroom-based training, while the remaining 10% involves mentorship and coaching from experienced leaders and subject matter experts.
Khaya Ngcwembe, vice president of human resources management at Toyota South Africa Motors, said developing people is important to the organisation’s long-term success.
“At Toyota, we understand that the long-term success of our organisation and industry, amongst others, depends on the people we develop today,” Ngcwembe said.
The programme is based on The Toyota Way, the company’s global philosophy centred on the principles of Respect for People and Continuous Improvement.
These principles inform Toyota’s approach to employee development, problem-solving and innovation.
Applications are open to graduates from several fields, including engineering, business and commercial studies, technology, finance, built environment and people management.
Applicants must either be in their final year of study or have recently completed a relevant qualification at a recognised institution.
According to Toyota South Africa, candidates should demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership potential and a commitment to continuous learning.
Ngcwembe said the programme is also intended to contribute to the development of young talent in South Africa.
“We believe that investing in young talent is one of the most important ways we can contribute to South Africa’s future competitiveness and growth,” he said.
Through the programme, successful candidates will gain workplace experience, professional networks and exposure to an international automotive organisation.
Toyota South Africa said graduates will have opportunities to develop their capabilities through a combination of practical assignments, structured learning and guidance from experienced professionals.
The application deadline is 21 August 2026.
