HostAfrica Enters Tanzania With Acquisition of Web Hosting Firm Zesha. HostAfrica has completed the acquisition of Tanzanian web hosting company Zesha (T) Limited, marking the South African company’s entry into Tanzania and expanding its presence across the African continent.
The acquisition follows the receipt of the required regulatory approvals and will see Zesha integrated into HostAfrica’s wider operations.
Founded in 2016, HostAfrica currently operates in South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana. With Tanzania becoming its fifth market, the company said the expansion represents a milestone in its regional growth strategy and its efforts to support digital entrepreneurship across Africa.
HostAfrica provides web hosting, domain registration and virtual private server (VPS) services. The company said its expansion into Tanzania will allow it to provide services locally while incorporating its technology offering into the new market.
The acquisition will also introduce Zesha customers to HostAfrica’s growing range of artificial intelligence-powered products and infrastructure management tools.
Among the products highlighted by the company are its Hbuild AI website builder, which is designed to help entrepreneurs create websites, as well as AI-powered one-click VPS templates with preinstalled instances of Hermes, N8N or OpenClaw.
HostAfrica also highlighted its Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, which the company describes as local GPUs and the first of their kind on the continent.
The company said its AI-focused tools are intended to make it easier for entrepreneurs to establish an online presence and provide developers with alternative ways to manage hosting infrastructure using natural-language instructions through AI platforms such as Claude and ChatGPT.
HostAfrica CEO Michael Osterloh said the company was pleased to complete the acquisition and welcome Zesha’s team and customers.
“Tanzania is a thriving economy and has long been part of our growth roadmap,” Osterloh said.
He added that the acquisition would enable HostAfrica to serve Tanzanian customers locally while bringing some of its latest AI-powered products to the market.
The integration of Zesha into HostAfrica’s operations follows the formal transfer of ownership. The company said the move forms part of its broader ambition to become a leading locally operated web hosting and domain registration provider in Africa.
For HostAfrica, the acquisition represents an expansion into a new national market while adding Tanzania to its existing network of operations across South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana.
