South African Footwear Brand Drip took to Twitter to announce its new partnership with car retailer BMW Midrand. This partnership will allow Drip Footwear to be sold at BMW Midrand as of the 2nd of September, the company said it will be building its own store inside the BMW Midrand dealership.
The post read, “We are happy to announce that as of the 2nd of September 2021, Drip Footwear will be available for purchase at BMW Midrand.” This partnership is in line with the company’s long term vision of creating sustainable jobs through collaborations and partnerships with different companies in different sectors.
Lekau Sehoana, founder and CEO, said on Twitter, “As of the 2nd of September 2021, you will be able to buy a Drip Footwear Sneaker at the BMW Midrand in Waterfall. We literally built a Store at the Dealership… @DRIPFootWear.”
The company is very open to collaborative work with other brands that also share its vision of creating better opportunities for people. This is also shown through the company’s recent partnership with Cassper Nyovest which created a brand called ‘Root Of Fame’ that has already launched its first sneakers called the ‘#990’. This partnership also seeks to grow and release other products to the market thereby creating more employment in communities.
The partnership between Drip Footwear and BMW Midrand could lead to a very innovative collaboration that brings new ideas that will be able to transform the way business is done is South Africa. This will set a precedent as not many companies that are in different sectors and form long term partnerships, especially in industries such as the footwear (clothing) industry and the automotive industry.
This will also inspire young entrepreneurs who are building their brands to also think outside of the box in terms of securing partnerships with large companies such as BMW. This will show them that through hard work and knowing one’s market, their brand can also reach the heights that Drip Footwear has reached.
