How Construction Start-Up TenderPoint SA Seeks To Create An Ecosystem In The Construction Industry That Share Skills And Opportunities. According to the CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board) slightly over 80% of contractors in South Africa are emerging contractors that battle to source opportunities that enable them to be employers and participants in the eradication of unemployment in the country.

The other imperative factor that faces the industry is a lack of information share that not only empowers contractors but ensures effective service delivery. A platform for the industry to share information ensures a healthy ecosystem that unites and drives the industry to greater heights.

The TenderPoint SA platform was developed to be a catalyst to creating a united industry, harnessing opportunity and skills share, a product of employment creation and effectively result to thriving communities. This mission and vision keeps the company developing a simple and effective solution that fits perfectly in its client’s business lifecycle, whether at the office or on a construction site. It trusts that by utilising its platform clients do not only benefit from cost efficient services but they inversely ensure someone somewhere is empowered.

TenderPoint SA was founded by Asa Walesa Mazomba, his interest for the industry began at Port Rex Technical School in East London, where he was exposed to Interior Architecture. However, it was his numerical abilities that led to her decision to study Quantity Surveying at Nelson Mandela Municipality University (now Nelson Mandela University). He always knew he wanted to build a business that would have scale and social impact. After a very brief stint working for a construction consultancy, his passion led him to start building his own company in 2014, after being aware of which gaps existed in the ecosystem.

Mazomba’s upbringing taught him the importance of community, having been raised by people who did social work. His work experience showed him how he could contribute to society in a positive way. Coupled with his love of helping people and technology, the idea of TenderPoint, a construction procurement platform that assists emerging contractors in being compliant and run projects efficiently seemed like a viable business be venture.
