Volkswagen Announces Plans To Globally Launch The Volkswagen Amarok In South Africa

Volkswagen Announces Plans To Globally Launch The Volkswagen Amarok In South Africa. It has been reported that Volkswagen is planning to globally launch the Volkswagen Amarok in South Africa. In 2020 it was announced a new version of the Amarok would be released in 2022 based on the Ford Ranger, this is the Amarok that will be launched in South Africa.

“2022 will be a monumental year for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, which will see the launch of the best-selling new Caddy range as well as the new Amarok. The Amarok’s world premiere and global media launch will both take place in South Africa later this year,” VWSA confirmed in a statement.

The Volkswagen Amarok is a pickup truck produced by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles since 2010. It is a traditional body-on-frame truck with double-wishbone suspension at the front and leaf springs at the rear. The Amarok range consists of single cab and double cab, combined with either rear-wheel drive or 4motion four-wheel-drive, and is powered by turbocharged gasoline or turbocharged direct injection (TDI) diesel engines.

Lars Menge, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles product marketing boss told Auto Express that, “In terms of drive system we are continuing to use highly efficient TDI diesel engines for the new Amarok and there will be a powerful V6 TDI available in the future too, plus further power units specific in each case to the market. In other words, depending on the market the Amarok will be moving forward efficiently and powerfully as a diesel or petrol vehicle.”

The Amarok provides safety on almost any terrain as it is the only pickup in its class to come with an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, 17-inch disc brakes at the front and 16-inch disc brakes at the rear as standard. The Launch of the car in South Africa signifies how much demand there is for the car in the country, this is why Volkswagen is investing in launching in SA as it knows that how much South Africans have been anticipating it.
