Technical Service Start-Up GeeKulcha Wins The Special Ministerial Award At The 19th Public Sector Innovation Awards. South African technical service startup GeeKulcha has announced that it won the Special Ministerial Award at the 19th Public Sector Innovation Awards. The co-founder and COO of the company Tiyani Nghonyama took to Twitter to make this announcement.
The post read, “This was a surprise… We won a special ministerial award for youth programmes at the 19th annual edition of the Public Sector Innovation Awards by the @cpsi_sa. #PSIAwards2022 #PSIHack22.” By winning this award it shows that GeeKulcha is making a significant impact in society by making sure that young people have a platform where they can share ideas and information as well as network with other individuals who are interested in collaborating on projects.
Geekulcha is a platform where the young, skilled, creative and ambitious tech minds meet to connect with each other, share knowledge, collaborate on projects, network with industry leaders, obtain training to further improve and enhance their skills and to put that newly acquired skill to work. The platform has over 19 000 techies and innovators across Africa. Established 15 March 2013, its focus is on empowering young geeks through ICT skills development and training while giving them a taste of what awaits them in the big world through industry exposure.
The ultimate goal is to ensure that the South African tech ecosystem is competitive and as the build cool technological solutions, there is an element of sustainability as much as possible. The Public Sector Innovation Awards are aimed at recognising innovators in all spheres of government and public entities, the event was held at Birchwood Hotel, Boksburg east of Johannesburg on Friday, February 25, 2022.
