Proudly South African fuel brand, Sasol has announced that South Africa’s cleanest diesel, locally produced fuel, Sasol Turbodiesel ULS 10ppm will be available from selected Sasol fuel stations in Kwa-Zulu Natal from 5 September. Sasol was the first oil company to launch this innovation in South Africa, aligning with its transition towards cleaner fuels.
Created through Sasol’s innovative, advanced additive technology, Sasol Turbodiesel ULS 10ppm has the lowest sulphur content diesel of less than 10 parts per million. The fuel formula includes revolutionary additives to clean and protect engines, ensuring that they run with less harmful exhaust emissions and improved fuel efficiency.
Sasol Turbodiesel ULS 10ppm enables fleets and drivers to transition to modern diesel engine technology, thus contributing to reduced CO2 emissions and a cleaner environment. The diesel conforms with international standards for diesel, contributing to environmental sustainability.
Dumisani Bengu, Senior Vice-President for Sasol Energy Marketing & Sales, said: “We are pleased to roll out Sasol Turbodiesel ULS 10ppm, to all our KwaZulu-Natal Sasol forecourts. This clean diesel enables vehicles to run more efficiently in terms of power output and fuel economy and, at the same time, reduce exhaust emissions with cleaner fuel. We use state-of-the art additive technology to ensure optimal engine performance in all type of engines, old and new – diesel developed by and for South Africa. The introduction of this product to more areas reinforces our commitment and dedication to providing cleaner, high-quality fuel options to all South Africans.”
Sasol is the only fuel and energy company that has dedicated testing facilities in South Africa and Sasol Turbodiesel ULS 10ppm has been tried and tested under South African conditions. Like all Sasol fuel products, the formulation was subjected to extensive testing at Sasol R&D centres in Sasolburg and Cape Town to ensure it delivers the anticipated performance benefits.
In addition to ensuring that all specifications are met, Sasol performs severe engine tests to ensure that there is no degradation to fuel injection equipment, engine performance, and exhaust emissions, even under harsh South African conditions. This enables cars fitted with exhaust aftertreatment devices to operate freely and extend the life of their catalytic converter.
Sasol diesel contains lubricity additives to improve lubricity performance to the highest level to provide complete protection to all diesel fuel systems, old or new. All diesel marketed and sold in South Africa must conform to the SANS 342 compulsory standard for minimum lubricity. Sasol Turbodiesel ULS 10ppm exceeds the standard.
