The Bread Box Bakery Joins Forces with Uber Eats

In a heartwarming collaboration that underscores the power of community-driven entrepreneurship, The Bread Box Bakery, founded by Mahlogonolo Ledwaba, has partnered with Uber Eats through their Historically Disadvantaged People (HDP) badge program. This partnership not only celebrates the bakery’s delectable offerings but also highlights its commitment to uplifting the community.
Mahlogonolo Ledwaba’s transition from a corporate career in ICT to the culinary world was driven by a desire to make a tangible difference. In 2016, she began teaching baking skills to unemployed women in her community, transforming lives one loaf at a time. By 2017, The Bread Box Bakery was officially established in Midrand, Gauteng, evolving into a hub for skill development and employment. To date, the bakery has created over 25 jobs and provided workplace training opportunities for approximately 60 culinary students.

Uber Eats’ HDP badge program aims to spotlight and support businesses led by individuals from historically disadvantaged backgrounds. The Bread Box Bakery’s inclusion in this program is a testament to its impact and excellence. According to Uber Eats, Mahlogonolo is “one of our top HDP stores,” a recognition that brings the bakery’s mission to a broader audience.
To commemorate this partnership, Mahlogonolo hosted a media event at The Bread Box Bakery, offering attendees a hands-on baking experience. Participants had the opportunity to learn baking techniques directly from Mahlogonolo, followed by enjoying a selection of pastries and coffee. This event provided insight into her inspiring journey from the corporate world to restauranteering, emphasizing the bakery’s role in community development.
The partnership between The Bread Box Bakery and Uber Eats is more than a business collaboration; it’s a celebration of resilience, community, and the transformative power of entrepreneurship. As Mahlogonolo continues to expand her bakery’s reach, she remains steadfast in her mission to empower and uplift, proving that with passion and purpose, businesses can be a force for good.
