Tony Elumelu Foundation Opens 2026 Programme for African Entrepreneurs

Tony Elumelu Foundation Opens 2026 Programme for African Entrepreneurs. Applications are now open for the 2026 Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, inviting ambitious African founders across all 54 African countries to apply. The programme is open to entrepreneurs operating in all sectors, and is positioned as an opportunity for South African founders to access funding, training, and networks that support business growth and sustainability.

Successful applicants will receive US$5,000 in non-refundable seed capital, alongside structured business training, dedicated mentorship, and access to Africa’s largest entrepreneurship ecosystem. The support is designed to help early-stage businesses refine their models, strengthen operations, and prepare for long-term growth.

Since its launch in 2015, the Tony Elumelu Foundation has funded more than 24,000 entrepreneurs across the continent. Over the same period, the Foundation has trained 2.5 million Africans, supported the creation of more than 1.5 million jobs, and enabled over US$4.2 billion in revenue.

According to the Foundation, the programme is built on the belief that entrepreneurship is a critical driver of economic transformation in Africa. By equipping entrepreneurs with capital, skills, and networks, the initiative aims to strengthen local economies and expand employment opportunities across communities.

For South African entrepreneurs, the 2026 intake presents an opportunity to connect with peers from across Africa, gain exposure to new markets, and build businesses that are positioned for regional and continental relevance. The programme is sector-agnostic, welcoming founders from technology, agriculture, manufacturing, creative industries, and services.

In addition to funding, participants benefit from a structured curriculum that covers business planning, financial management, market access, and leadership. Mentors and facilitators engage with entrepreneurs throughout the programme, providing guidance as businesses navigate early-stage challenges.

Applications for the 2026 Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme must be submitted through the official platform at www.TEFConnect.com. The application window closes on 1 March 2026.

Entrepreneurs are encouraged to prepare clear business ideas, demonstrate commitment to execution, and outline how their ventures can create economic value and employment opportunities. The Foundation has stated that selection is based on the quality of ideas and the potential for impact.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme continues to position entrepreneurship as a practical tool for inclusive growth and long-term development across Africa, while offering South African founders a pathway to scale their businesses within a continental ecosystem. Interested entrepreneurs should apply early and review programme guidelines carefully before submission to maximise their chances of selection success globally.
