Monash South Africa Offers 10 Top SA Young Entrepreneurs A Year Fellowship

Monash South Africa (MSA) has once more selected 10 top young entrepreneurs from across the country who are solving critical social problems to participate in a one year fellowship programme. This is the second year that MSA has chosen fellows for the MSA LEAD (Leading Entrepreneurship for African Development) programme, which provides a remarkable opportunity for young social entrepreneurs to be connected to a community of change-makers, receive financial support and be connected to top mentors.
Monash South Africa believes in the power of young people as leaders who are champions of innovative solutions to urgent social and environmental challenges. These visionaries represent a powerful force, if given the opportunity to develop much-needed skills, resources, and key collaborative learning opportunities to contribute towards African development.
The MSA LEAD programme is a result of a global partnership between MSA, the International Youth Foundation (IYF) and Laureate International Universities. Fellows of the programme benefit from advanced training during a leadership workshop, which covers topics including leadership development, project management and communications, as well as continuous learning opportunities throughout the fellowship year.
The judging panel is formed of corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, MSA alumni and academics, with candidates being judged on various criteria, including the potential of the projects to become self-sustaining and attract future support, and whether the venture has high potential for sustained social impact. The judges are also looking for key attributes in the young individuals, including how willing they are to continue learning and whether they have the potential to develop into the leaders they will need to become to run their projects on a large scale.
