How Relevance For Men Is Catering For The Men’s Formal Wear Market

How Relevance For Men Is Catering For The Men’s Formal Wear Market. The South African Fashion Industry is much diversified in that designers are not sticking to designing brand that are similar or have the same target market. South Africans are now able to purchase South African brands that range from street wear, sportswear, formal wear and high end luxury clothing. This diversification has allowed designers to cater for the different markets that exist within the country that are mostly dominated by international brands.

Relevance For Men is a South African clothing brand that makes formal clothing for men, such as suits, shirts and shoes. This clothing brand was founded by Tshepo Mashego in 2015. Tshepo Mashego, born in Kanyamazane, outside Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, first started collecting suits for fun, but in 2015 decided it’s time for men to be dressed in good looking tailored suits. Relevance For Men was born. A formal wear brand that caters specifically for men, that was designed to make them look & feel relevant in the spaces that they operate in.

“We tailor make suits, shoes and shirts using the finest suiting fabrics available in the world and the best leather available for the shoes. We pride ourselves in applying a special craft to our tailor making process by hand – making the suits from inception to the final product.” it said in a statement.

He started the brand when he was working at CSIR; Mashego describes the experiences as being tough as he was basically working two jobs. “I would knock off at half past 4, from half past 4 I would drive from Pretoria to Randburg to the warehouse to get the suits and everything I needed to deliver, I was doing this everyday from 2015 to 2016 till I decided that you know what I think it’s time for me to jump ship.” said Mashego in an interview with Power FM.

Mashego has also managed to design for South African politicians such as Malusi Gigaba and Ronald Lamola. Tshepo introduced shirts, Chino’s and shoes to his brand and has also collaborated is with Radio Personality DJ Glen Lewis on creating a cutting edge sneaker.
