5 Businesses Owned By DJ Shimza. DJ Shimza whose real name is Ashley Raphala is a South African DJ, Producer, Entrepreneur and a great personality in South Africa’s entertainment industry. DJ Shimza is one of South Africa’s richest DJs which he accumulated through his business ventures. Raphala acquired an interest to venture into House Music as a DJ in 2003. The enthusiasm and passion he had in this field enabled him to steer on to win the Red Square DJ Competition held in 2006. As much as Shimza has been successful in the music industry he still ventured into entrepreneurship as he hopes to inspire the youth who want to get out of poverty. These are 5 business ventures that DJ Shimza has established.

The One-Man Show

The One-Man show is annually held on Christmas Day to raise funds for underprivileged children. Through the show, Shimza gets to buy clothes, food and other necessities for the children. The One-Man show grew to become a brand that has been happening for a decade and has created a culture that people in Gauteng get to enjoy and honour every year. The show also sponsors school kids from his hometown of Tembisa whilst also driving job creation for the youth. Over the years the event has showcased some of the South African music giants such AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Riky Rick, Black Coffee, Mi Casa, Black Motion and more.

The Hang Awt 1632

The Hang Awt 1632 is situated in Shimza’s hometown of Tembisa and has been operational since 25 October 2019. The musician has described the place as “a hangout spot with good food and drinks”. He opened up a business in Tembisa that will sell good food, serve great drinks and the best entertainment with a great atmosphere. What DJ Shimza seeks to achieve with his business venture is to uplift his community in Tembisa by creating jobs and a social place where people can go to-to socialise.

Lockdown House Party

Shimza isn’t only a brilliant Deejay but a remarkable entrepreneur who saw the gap in entertainment since the rise of Covid-19 and teamed up with DJ Ph to bring the entertainment world alive during trying times. DJ PH and DJ Shimza were excited when #LockdownHouseParty moved to Channel O, after a successful debut on the internet. DJ Shimza and DJ PH used the opportunity to work on exposing the upcoming talents by inviting them on challenges of posting their set in hopes of getting them featured.

Fridays Restaurant

DJ Shimza announced that he’s branched out and bought a second restaurant. Taking to social media, Shimza told his followers that he has purchased a restaurant in Midrand to add to his venture in Tembisa. Definitely taking his own advice about branching out and creating multiple streams of income, DJ Shimza added a Midrand, Gauteng establishment called Fridays to his list. “I’m on two restaurants, one in Tembisa and one in Midrand, The Hang Awt and Fridays,” he tweeted. Shimza revealed in his comment section that he only recently bought into the business that was established more than three years ago.

Just Exists Creative Agency

The agency was founded by Nomkhosi Mkhalipi, Ashley “Shimza” Raphala, Hoosain Van Roos, and Malenah Bapela who all form the leadership of the agency. DJ Shimza currently serves as the company’s CEO. The agency was founded in 2021 and it is located in DJ Shimza home town of Tembisa. The collective has experience with a sizeable number of collaborations with global brands and are committed to breathing new life in the creative marketing space in a way that tells authentic stories through uniquely African eyes.
