Orlando Pirates Supports Local Brand Tshepo Jeans Ahead Of The Soweto Derby Match Over The Weekend. The Orlando Pirates football squad was spotted wearing South African designed and manufactured jeans brand ‘Tshepo Jeans’ by South African entrepreneur Tshepo Mohlala ahead of their Soweto Derby match with Kaizer Chiefs over the weekend. This is a huge milestone for the entrepreneur, as having a big brand’s endorsement will boost the awareness of his Tshepo Jeans brand. This collaboration between Orlando Pirates and Tshepo Jeans will inspire a lot of aspiring entrepreneurs and designers as it is showing them that their dreams are valid and achievable through hard work.
“I think since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve seen a large shift towards supporting local. It’s great seeing an institution as big as Orlando Pirates choosing a local denim brand rather than an international one.” Mohlala told Daily Sun. Orlando Pirates is setting a precedent that other big organisations should follow, so that they can uplift local entrepreneurs who are making a positive impact in the community and inspiring the youth. Mohlala says his love of fashion started at home where he was raised by his mother, his aunt and his grandmother, each of them played a part in making him who he is today. Since its formation in 2015, the purpose of the brand was clear for the designer as he sought to connect with people through the stories his designs tell.
Tshepo Jeans is a lifestyle brand founded in South Africa; the brand offers a range of bespoke denim clothing and ready-to-wear products. The brand has established itself in the hearts and minds of ordinary South Africans and people across the world, where it has been applauded. The brand’s decision to specialise in denim is due to its distinctly nostalgic character and its ability to tell stories.
Tshepo Jeans recently opened its first store in Hyde Park, Johannesburg and is planning more collaborations. “This year, Tshepo Jeans is just looking to continue to grow. We are working on different collaborations and partnerships, aligning ourselves with artists, designers and brands that have a similar vision to ours.” Mohlala added.
