Born in Moletjie a village outside Polokwane, Limpopo Province, the dramatic arts and media studies degree graduate has achieved much in his career. Mashabela won the Comics’ Choice Native Tongue Award in 2016 and he has over 300 000 followers on social media. Mashabela is the brains behind Comedy Under The Sun, one of the biggest annual comedy events in the country.  Comedy Under The Sun picnic hosted by Mashabela Galane showcases well known vernac comedians in South Africa, comedians who hardly get a chance to meet and greet their followers. They also get an opportunity to perform in their own languages, and express this form of art in any African language.
