The Social And Inclusive Business Camp Has Opened Applications For Innovative African Entrepreneurs

The Social And Inclusive Business Camp Has Opened Applications For Innovative African Entrepreneurs. Established by Campus AFD (French Development Agency), The Social & Inclusive Business Camp (SIBC) has officially opened applications for this year’s programme. Innovative African entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply to the programme as it aims to drive growth in the continent’s ecosystem.

Campus AFD is committed to assisting African social entrepreneurs with its unique programme. This can be displayed in 200 African business owners who have scaled up their business with the pivotal assistance and insight provided by Campus AFD’s Social & Inclusive Business Camp. Sustainable development needs entrepreneurs. Private initiatives do allow to capture the needs of the people and to accelerate technological, ecological and social innovation. More and more companies are placing their societal impact at the heart of their projects, beyond their financial profitability.

Currently, the Covid-19 crisis reminded people of the emergency for societies to take responsibility for environmental and social inclusion issues. Collectively, they must rapidly develop capacities for resilience and they need more innovative entrepreneurs to invent sustainable and impactful models. Since its creation in 2017 by the Development Campus of Agence Française du Développement (AFD), the Social & Inclusive Business Camp has supported nearly 150 entrepreneurs with a strong societal impact on Africa, in scaling up, measuring their social performance and preparing them for fundraising.

AFD is the French development bank. It is committed to projects that improve the daily lives of populations in developing countries, emerging countries and overseas. The AFD accompanies the transition to a more secure, just and lasting world, a world in common. Its action is fully in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. In recent years, the Agence Française de Développement has been heavily approached by the private sector to accompany and support Social Business initiatives in developing countries. AFD Group aims to finance projects with social impact, to attract new committed actors and to foster the development of a more inclusive economy.

Interested applicants are encouraged to apply before 3 July 2021. Selected applicants will be notified and take part in the programme which is expected to begin in early August. The boot camp and the Emerging Valley Summit will commence in early December 2021.
